Salary: $85,000 - $90,000

Position Summary:

The Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Manhattan University invites innovative educators to join us for a one-year visiting position teaching in our Psychology undergraduate program. We welcome participants from all areas of Psychology to teach in our thriving undergraduate program.

Join us at an exciting time of growth! Our department offers three undergraduate programs (Psychology, Sociology, and Criminology) and three graduate counseling programs (School Counseling, Mental Health, and Marriage and Family), with accelerate B.A./M.S. pathways between psychology and counseling. Our psychology program offers both B.A. and B.S. degree options, and we collaborate with the Biology program to offer a neuroscience minor. This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.

Responsibilities:

As a Visiting Assistant Professor, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Engage students through creative instruction in both specialized and foundational psychology courses (teaching load: 4 courses per semester)

  • Guide student development through thoughtful academic advising and mentorship

  • Foster research skills by involving undergraduates in your research and supervising student projects

  • Support student success through retention-focused initiatives

  • Enhance program quality by participating in assessment activities

  • Collaborate with colleagues through departmental service and interdisciplinary initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Psychology or related field

  • ABD candidates will be considered if they are on track to complete their doctorate by or before the date of hire

  • Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching excellence

  • Innovative approaches to teaching cognitive and neuroscience concepts

  • Experience mentoring undergraduate students
