AmPark NORC Intern
At Riverdale Y, the collective impact of various roles is profound, contributing to the well-being and vibrancy of our entire community. We have the following regularly committed roles available starting January:
AmPark NORC Inter: - Tasks: Engage in administrative and hands-on duties to support the Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NORC). This involves tasks such as filing, data entry, in-person and phone communications, as well as assisting with programs like the pantry and meal service. Specific responsibilities include distributing food from the pantry, setting up and dismantling tables, and assisting with meal preparation, service, and cleanup, and other tasks as assigned. - Impact: Provide vital support to older adults in a low-income community. - Benefits: Gain valuable experience working in a non-profit office environment while supporting programs designed for older adults. These experiences are relevant and applicable in social work and medical settings. - Schedule: In-person commitment on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, other times to be determined.
Pool Deck Intern: - Tasks: Greet and provide friendly assistance to pool visitors, answer patron inquiries and provide information about pool programs, collaborate with lifeguards to maintain a safe and compliant pool environment, and other tasks as assigned. - Impact: As a Poolside Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring a positive and safe experience for patrons at our pool facility. - Benefits: Learn how to support basic maintenance tasks for poolside equipment. Access to CPR/AED certification available. - Schedule: In person, Sundays 8am to 2:30pm, other times to be determined
Older Adult Programing Intern: -Tasks:
- Impact: Ensures a pleasant dining experience, addresses isolation, promotes food justice for the homebound and elderly, promotes independence, reduces challenges for older adults during public transit, ensures access to essential services, maintains social connections, and creates a lively and entertaining atmosphere fostering joy, social connectedness, and community among older adults through musical expression. - Benefits: Learn to interact with older adults, gain experiences applicable in social work and medical environments, build meaningful connections, contribute to an age-friendly community, develop empathy and communication skills, contribute to community building, enhance event coordination skills, express creativity, and contribute to a positive and uplifting atmosphere. - Schedule: In-person commitment on Monday to Fridays, from 9:30am to 2:30pm, days to be determined. Together, these roles form a comprehensive support network that addresses various facets of our community's needs.
