Opportunity Programs is hiring several student employees to facilitate tutoring and peer academic coaching. The OP Tutor/PAC is intended to assist students in clarifying learning obstacles, practice study strategies and provide some content support outside of the classroom setting.
Tutors will provide in-person and virtual sessions to individual students to provide learning assistance in specific subject areas.
Content areas need:
- Writing support for core Liberal Arts courses
- Pre-Calculus, Calculus 1 & 2
- Gen Chemistry & Gen Physics
Academic coaching includes:
- reviewing syllabi and organizing schedules
- developing study techniques and strategies
- note taking and synthesizing information
- effectively managing and prioritizing time
- test preparation strategies
- goal setting and attainment
- Refer students to other support services and resources (tutoring, SI, College 101)
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide face-to-face and online tutoring to individual OP students
- Provide small group review sessions prior to final exam week for a particular course or subject
- Keep accurate and up to date records of missed/late appointments on Jasper Connect
- Maintain a schedule of working hours, with requests to cancel a shift submitted with at least 24 hours notice
- Attend Student Staff Training throughout the semester
- Read and respond to emails in a timely fashion
- Submit required paperwork (timesheets, schedules, etc.) in a timely fashion
- Update OP advisors as needed
- Remain in good academic and judicial standing
Hourly Rate: $16. 00
