SCI 100 Peer Leader

SCI 100 peer leaders will support the first year students enrolled in SCI 100 – the first year seminar course for science and mathematics majors. They will attend each class session (1x per week for 14 weeks), take student attendance, give a presentation to students on how to register for classes in preparation for Spring 2025 registration, and will send out weekly email communications to the students with upcoming events and tips.
Key responsibilities:

Attend all SCI 100 course sessions (1 hour to 1 hour, 15 minutes per week)

Support the SCI 100 instructor by taking attendance at the beginning of each class session

Prepare a presentation on how to register for courses to give to the students

Send out weekly emails to support the students and inform them of upcoming campus events

Qualifications:

Upper class student majoring or concentrating in biochemistry, biology, chemistry, computer science, environmental science, mathematics or physics

GPA of at least 3.0 or above.

Recommendation of SCI 100 instructor
Salary:
$16 per hour, $250 maximum per peer leader
