Position Title: Student Counselor for Summer Engineering Program for High School Students

Hourly Rate: $16.50

Position Summary:

The Residential Summer Engineering Program will expose high school students to the different fields of engineering. The counselors will supervise and provide mentorship/ guidance to the students as well as assist faculty members throughout the day with the different engineering related activities. Counselors are also expected to assist program directors with day to day activities, clerical work, set up and clean ups. We are looking for current Manhattan University engineering majors who display high levels of professionalism and are excited about sharing their passion for engineering with others.

Requirements:

• Counselors are expected to be available to work all program days from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
• Available to work the following dates: Sunday, 3 August through Saturday, 9 August (Note: They are expected to work all six days or any specific days for which they are hired)
• Counselors will need to attend an additional training day on campus prior to the start of the program and complete an online training course. They will be paid for the time worked, as well as time spent on training
• Able and willing to work with high school students (minors)
• Current undergraduate or graduate student in the school of engineering

Responsibilities:

• Supervise high school students (minors)
• Assist instructors with classroom, laboratory sessions
• Assist with set up and clean up for opening and closing ceremony, lunch service and student projects
• Office tasks (record keeping, photocopying, phone call and email communication)
• Other duties as assigned by the program director
