Position Title: Mechanical Engineering Summer Institute Counselor
Hourly Rate: $16.50
Position Summary:
The purpose of the Mechanical Engineering Summer Institute is to expose high school students to the different fields of mechanical engineering. It is expected that a counselor will supervise and provide mentorship/ guidance to the students as well as assist faculty members through out the day with the different engineering related activities. Counselors are also expected to assist program directors with day to day activities, set up and clean ups. We are looking for current engineering majors who display high levels of professionalism and are excited about sharing their passion for engineering with others. This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.
Requirements:
- Counselors are expected to be available to work all program days from 8:30 am – 3:00 pm
- Available to work the following dates: Monday through Thursday from July 7 to August 21
- Counselors will need to attend an additional training day on campus prior to the start of the program and complete an online training course
- Able and willing to work with high school students (minors)
- Current undergraduate or graduate student in the school of engineering or education majors
Responsibilities:
- Supervise high school students (minors)
- Assist instructors with classroom, laboratory sessions
- Assist with set up and clean up for opening and closing ceremony, lunch service and student projects
- Office tasks (record keeping, photocopying, phone call and email communication)
- Other duties as assigned by the program director
