Eligibility:
Applicants must be accepted and enrolled in a Manhattan University Graduate program of study beginning Fall 2025.
Work Requirements:
For each 18 credits (9 credits per semester) of graduate study scholarship, 600 hours of work is required each academic year (300 hours per semester) during the time the graduate studies are taking place. The supervisor and the Graduate Assistant (“GA”) will determine the hours per week and number of weeks based on the needs of the department and the educational needs of the student.
Time Frame:
Academic Year 1:
(Fall 2025 Semester until Mid-May 2026) – Events & Conference Services Office GA
Academic Year 2:
(Fall 2026 Semester until Mid-May 2027) – Events & Conference Services Office GA

Must complete 600 hours per academic year (300 hours per semester)

Must work between 16 - 20 hours per week to reach the required 600 hours

Must submit timesheets to supervisor, weekly, for recordkeeping of hours met and remaining to reach fulfillment on agreement

GA’s are not entitled to employee benefits except for those required by law

Winter and Spring break hours will be discussed with supervisor, and determined by timesheets

Job Description:
During the academic year, the Graduate Assistant (GA) will play a dual role and assist with many aspects of the Events and Conference Services Office with administrative functions such as sending emails, phone calls, excel usage, picking up items or delivering items across campus, etc. as well as operational functions such as setting up/breaking down event spaces, staffing events, etc. He/she will also support the hiring of Conference Assistants employed during the summer months.
During the summer months, the GA will transition into a Conference Assistant Team Leader role and work with the office management staff in planning, preparing, and coordinating most aspects of the summer conference season. The summer role will be paid hourly. Additional responsibilities include developing a training program with your fellow Team Leaders and leading a team of Conference Assistants to support the day-to-day summer operations. The three main areas of responsibility are housekeeping, setup and breakdown of meeting facilities and all customer service related activities.
