Job Description & Responsibilities:

  • As an assistant in the Kakos Center for High Performance Computing, the student will be responsible for providing assistance to the Director of the Center. Among other things, the assistance includes constructing and upgrading the servers of the Center, more than 15 PC style workstations, and other computer hardware housed in it. In addition, the assistant will assist in installing new software and upgrading older versions of software. The job duties also include acting as a point of contact for the students and faculty interested in using the machines, creating accounts for them, setting up software they need, and providing general assistance and help to them. Candidates should be comfortable working in a Linux environment and should be familiar with using the terminal.
  • Reporting directly to the Director of the Kakos Center for High Performance Computing.

Requirements:

  • Must be a full-time graduate student pursuing an MS degree in Computer Science
  • Should be comfortable working in a Linux environment and should be familiar with using the terminal.

Necessary skills:

  • Be skilled in Linux.
  • Be a team worker.
  • Be on time with all assignments.
  • Good communications skills.

Desired Start Date: 09/15/2025

End date: 06/01/2026

Hours: up to 20 hours/week

Compensation: 12 graduate tuition credits (6 credits/semester).
