Position Title: Student Worker

Position Type: Part-Time, Federal Work-Study

Position Summary:

The Work Study Student will support the daily operations of the Campus Ministry office at
Manhattan University, a Catholic institution in the Lasallian tradition committed to fostering faith,
service, and community.

This role assists in creating a vibrant spiritual environment through administrative tasks, event
coordination, and pastoral outreach, aligning with the university’s mission to nurture holistic
development rooted in Catholic values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administrative Support:
    • Manage front desk duties (answer calls, greet visitors, handle inquiries).
    • Assist with scheduling, data entry, and preparing materials for meetings/events.
  • Event Coordination:
    • Help organize liturgies, retreats, service projects, and fellowship activities.
    • Set up venues, track RSVPs, and collaborate with student groups/clergy.
  • Hospitality & Outreach:
    • Promote events via social media, flyers, and campus channels.
    • Foster a welcoming atmosphere for all students, regardless of faith background.
  • Spiritual Engagement:
    • Participate in/promote prayer groups, Bible studies, and retreats.
    • Maintain confidentiality in pastoral interactions.
  • Facility Maintenance:
    • Ensure shared spaces (chapels, lounges) are tidy and stocked with supplies.
  • Communications:
    • Update websites, newsletters, and bulletin boards.
  • Other Duties:
    • Assist with special projects and additional tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in the university’s federal/work-study program.
  • Interest in Catholic ministry and respect for its traditions.
  • Strong communication (written/verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational proficiency; ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
  • Basic tech skills (Microsoft Office, social media; familiarity with Canva/WordPress a plus).
  • Availability for occasional evenings/weekends.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in ministry, event planning, or customer service.
  • Knowledge of the university’s Catholic identity and teachings.
  • Bilingual abilities (Spanish/English preferred).

Work Environment:

  • Office, chapel, and event settings; occasional local travel for service projects.

Hourly Rate: $ 16.50
