POSITION REPORTS TO: Associate Director of Athletics / External Relations, Athletic Marketing & SWA

OVERVIEW:

Manhattan University, an NCAA Division I institution and member of the Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), is seeking applications for the vacant position of Head Acrobatics Coach. The successful candidate is responsible for all aspects in leading a competitive NCAA Division I Acrobatics program to include, but not limited to: recruitment of qualified student-athletes, hiring and supervision of assistant coaches, game scheduling, coaching (practice and in-game), successful management of program budgets, fundraising, meet NCAA APR requirements while supporting student-athlete academic success, and develop championship teams while maintaining the highest ethical standards. Must be committed to and manage the program within the guidelines of the NCAA, MAAC and Manhattan University Department of Intercollegiate Athletic policies and procedures and will be expected to work cooperatively with all constituencies and campus units.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Train and coach the acrobatics & tumbling team and recruit appropriately qualified student-athletes.

  • Develop an annual line-item budget and closely monitor the allocation and expenditures of funds to maintain a balanced budget.

  • Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes and provide encouragement, support, and referral assistance as needed.

  • Supervise and monitor roster and athletic enrollment goals in accordance with the established College financial aid policies for the acrobatics & tumbling, cheer, and dance programs.

  • Provide faculty members with the names of student-athletes and the dates they will be away from campus for athletic competitions.

  • Control budget expenditures for acrobatics & tumbling and control and maintain athletic equipment. Provide reports to the Director of Athletics as requested.

  • Assist with appropriate athletic publicity in cooperation with the Director of Athletics Communication.

  • Develop an appropriate schedule for intercollegiate competition and make all necessary arrangements (i.e. transportation, meals, housing, etc.).

  • Work in cooperation with the Director of Athletics and the Director of Athletics Communication to promote and increase attendance and revenue at athletic competitions.

  • Abide by all regulations, policies, and procedures of the NCAA, conference affiliation, and Manhattan University.

  • Implement and develop fundraising strategies through booster clubs, camps, and other projects to support the annual operating budget.

  • Develop championship teams, while maintaining the highest ethical standards.

  • Work cooperatively with athletic personnel, attends department meetings and activities.

  • Builds and sustains positive relationships with student-athletes, former players, faculty, alumni and staff.

  • Represents the college positively when interacting with community, alumni, high school and club coaches, and media.

  • Build and foster relationships with local, regional, and national high schools.

  • Schedule and participate in community service with staff and student-athletes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of full-time prior experience at the Division I level.

  • Assertive, outgoing, hard-working and resourceful.

  • Demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships and create partnerships with a wide range of constituent groups.

  • Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

  • Possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Required to travel and the ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, strong attention to detail and keep specific timelines.

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to problem solve.

  • Ability to work effectively with coaches, students, faculty, administration, alumni, and community.

Salary: $61,000
