After School Program Assistant Coordinator (part-time position)
Locations available: Kingsbridge, Bronx, New York
Manhattan University seeks an After-School Program Assistant Coordinator to oversee the Manhattan University After School Program. The candidate may be re-hired for the following academic year.
The Assistant Coordinator supervises and maintains an orderly, safe, and pleasant atmosphere with our various partner schools by recruiting and managing staff & students during the after-school program by school policies and established school procedures.
The Assistant Coordinator is also responsible for maintaining compliance with state and local regulations and program policies. Additionally, the Assistant Coordinator is responsible for but is not limited to, training, evaluation, supervision, and management of a diverse staff's daily operations. This position reports to the Manhattan University K-12 Program Coordinator.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day operations of the Manhattan University Afterschool Program.
Manage program registration and student payments.
Recruit, hire, monitor staff, and address issues or concerns.
Meet with the Program Coordinator to discuss resources, materials, issues, and concerns to run a smooth operation.
Ensure the program meets monthly enrollment goals through constant marketing and promotion with families, such as information sessions.
The Assistant Coordinator is also expected to do the following:
Student check-in and dismissal procedures for after school.
Stay informed of updates and adhere to SACC license protocols for the after-school program and staff.
Observe who enters and leaves childcare areas.
Assist students with homework when needed.
Pass out snacks when needed.
Organize and plan for age-specific craft/entertainment/STEM activities.
Submit reports and maintain records.
Play the role of floater and teacher backup when needed.

The incumbent works and interacts with staff and relates to individuals at all levels. As unique situations present themselves, the incumbent must be sensitive to corporate needs, employee goodwill, and the public image.
Possesses strong customer and student orientation.
Work with large amounts of data, research and interpret records, detect errors, and make the necessary corrections.
Look for ways to improve and promote quality, demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness. Strives to implement best practices.
Be courteous and professional when dealing with parents, children, and co-workers.
Possesses strong supervisory skills with young education professionals.
Over 75% of the population served speaks Spanish. Therefore, bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
Adheres to and understands Manhattan University Afterschool Program rules, expectations, policies, and procedures.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in education or a similar area. A Master’s degree is a plus.
Two years experience in childcare management or comparable educational learning environment.
CPR and First Aid Certification
Computer literacy: Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or Google Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, sheets, slides).
As part of the hiring protocols, a fingerprint/background check is required for SACC license compliance.
Experience managing, recruiting, and training staff.
Being familiar with SACC licensing protocols is a plus.
This is a part-time job of up to 25 hours per week.
Monday - Friday 1:30 pm - 6:30 pm. This position could be renewed each academic year (September - June)
