Position: Jasper Central Generalist – Student Accounts / Bursar
Salary: $50,000-$55,000

Position Summary:
In consultation with the Deputy Director of Jasper Central, the Generalist will be responsible in providing exceptional customer service through interaction with students, families, and external contacts regarding inquiries on all aspects of a student's account. Performs essential administrative functions to maintain the quality and integrity of student accounts. This is a full time non-exempt hourly position.
The Jasper Central Generalist provides key administrative service to the Student Accounts operation and serves as the primary contact to coordinate the flow of student and family inquiries related to their student tuition account, billing, collections and transaction processing related to various student services. The Generalist is the primary contact for students and parents and promptly responds to escalated queries received and routes them accordingly. This position demonstrates a thorough understanding of department and university policies. The Generalist is cross-trained in reviewing and evaluating data found in Financial Aid, Registration, Admissions and Residence Life modules of the University systems in order to provide a more complete picture of the student’s tuition account and ensure optimal customer service.
Primary Responsibilities:
Counsel parents and students, in-person, via telephone, or via email exchange, with regards to billing, payment policies, related enrollment, admissions and housing procedures.
Evaluate tuition accounts and calculate, communicate and finalize student financial plans, monthly payment plans and promote loan options consistent with federal, state, and institutional regulations for aid.
Review financial aid package/requirements to assist students and parents with determining their progress toward published payment deadlines.
Adhere to accurate and effective counseling and advising techniques for working with students and families on subjects of a sensitive nature.
Screen and direct students and families to appropriate counselors and staff across campus departments.
Act as a liaison between students, departments and other administrative offices to effectively communicate and collect necessary student information and updates.
Analyze student account activity and review awards and postings for accuracy.
Verify credit balances on tuition accounts for refund and Federal Title IV refund processing.
Process transactions for late fee charges and various miscellaneous charge postings; update the student system with pertinent coding and tracking and query information from other related financial aid systems.
Assist with payment/receipt invoicing for special programs populations, accounting journal entries for state awards and campus loan programs, and assist the Senior Associate Director in ongoing collections efforts for current due and past due accounts, the maintenance and preparation of housing/room & board billing transactions from the Housing module, and the release and reconciliation of housing deposits.
Maintain the department’s general email box and workflows.
Contribute to the overall success of the office by performing all other essential responsibilities assigned, i.e. answer phones, retrieve and route messages and emails, mailing bills/correspondence, document tracking, file management, create and sort spreadsheets.
Other special projects and duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree is required.
Must have the ability to think critically and perform complex tasks.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work cooperatively with co-workers are required.
Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.
Familiarity with Banner and Touchnet preferred but not required.
